Professional Mini Split Installation in Sanford, FL
Mini split installation calls for skilled workmanship, careful planning, and proper refrigerant management to deliver years of reliable, efficient operation. Sol Aire Air Conditioning begins every project with a thorough evaluation of the space, including room dimensions, insulation, sun exposure, and intended use. Proper sizing matters significantly with ductless equipment, since oversized units short cycle and waste energy while undersized systems struggle to maintain comfort. Our licensed and insured technicians install single zone and multi zone systems from Mitsubishi and Daikin, both of which lead the industry in ductless technology and reliability. As a Mitsubishi Diamond and Daikin Pro certified dealer, we install premium variable speed equipment that delivers exceptional comfort along with industry leading efficiency. Each installation includes careful indoor unit placement for optimal airflow, outdoor unit positioning that respects clearances and aesthetics, and refrigerant line routing that minimizes visual impact while protecting line set integrity. We discuss SEER2 efficiency ratings, BTU capacity requirements, and the differences between wall mounted, ceiling cassette, and floor mounted indoor units during the consultation. Electrical requirements get evaluated carefully, since some installations need dedicated circuits or panel upgrades. Our crews protect floors and furnishings, drill clean line set penetrations, and finish exterior work with professional looking line hide covers. After installation, we test the system thoroughly across cooling and heating modes to verify proper refrigerant charge, airflow, and electrical operation.

Customer Testimonials
Great folks. Amazing special $89 tune up included drain line cleaning. Highly recommend. Came same day and gave good advice.
Talk about a great team to work with. Great customer experience is a dying breed, but not here. The office staff is welcoming, the techs go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with the end results. Would highly recommend if you just need service, a new install or a health check of your system before it gets too hot outside!
I’m so glad I switched to Sol Aire for my HVAC repair and maintenance. After multiple visits from another company that couldn’t diagnose the issue, it was such a relief to finally get answers. Roberto and Carlos were incredibly thorough. They took the time to carefully inspect both my indoor and outdoor units, quickly identified the problem, and fixed it efficiently. Their professionalism and attention to detail really stood out. What impressed me just as much was the overall customer service. From start to finish, the experience was seamless. Mandilyn and Juana Luisa were fantastic—helpful with scheduling, proactive in communicating when the technician was on the way, and thoughtful enough to follow up afterward to make sure everything went well. It’s rare to find a company that delivers both technical expertise and excellent customer care. Highly recommend!
The tech did real good and was very competent. The tech was dispatched 1st call of the morning. Great service!!!!!!
We had Sol Aire come out to look at my mom’s HVAC system which was over 24 years old and had finally gave out. This was our second quote and we chose them because of their honesty and professionalism. Sam from Sol Aire was fantastic. He took the time to answer all of my questions as well as my mom’s and he gave us honest feedback without any pressure. On the day of installation the team arrived on time and were extremely professional throughout the entire process. The owner Lorenzo was even onsite for part of the day to check the quality of the work. He introduced himself to my mom and even took a moment to speak with me over Facetime which I really appreciated. The team Jason, Roberto and Carlos were courteous, professional and very respectful of my mom’s home. They cleaned everything up when they were done and were especially patient in helping my mom get set up with the app on her phone. Mandilyn in the office was also super helpful. She called my mom multiple times to keep her updated and followed up afterward to make sure everything was going well. From start to finish the service was outstanding. I highly recommend Sol Aire... A+ experience!
Sam and Roberto were incredibly kind and helpful people. They came out to service our business AC unit. They did an honest and professional job. The pricing was very fair and we signed up for a year long maintenance plan.
Carlos and Roberto were very professional they took care of the problem and explained everything that they were doing
I've been through multiple different AC companies and haven't had much luck finding one I'm happy with..... until this one. It had been a while since I had maintenance done and I wanted to get my system checked before the summer heat. I had gotten their flyer at my door a few weeks back and decided to try them out. I'm extremely happy I did! I called on a Thursday and they were already able to come out Monday afternoon. Before they arrived they texted and called to let me know they were on the way. I also received an email with their 2 names and pictures through a service that verifies their identities, just so you know who will be coming out. They were both extremely nice and professional and they took plenty of time to clean and check my system out. They also took pics of everything they did, before and after, and showed me them before I paid. My 10 year old AC system looks almost brand new again! Not only that but my whole house smells incredible thanks to the cleaners they used! If this is the level of service and professionalism they demonstrate moving forward, then I just found my go-to AC company from this point on. Well done Sol-Aire!
They put a new AC unit in my parents' house. Fantastic job ice cold air. I'm so happy. Thank you, . Thank you, Lorenzo.

Great service, respectful, and timely. They even figured out how to accommodate my request for the mini split placement!
It was easy to make the appointment, they came exactly on time, and did the work promptly and professionally. I felt they were interested in making sure I was being served, not that they were just there to make a buck. They make some suggestions, but didn't push anything on me. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will use their service again in the future.
I had 2 original ac units replaced. I am happy with the new units. The techs that installed the units were friendly and professional. I've used cheaper services with horrible outcomes. You get what you pay for and im glad I used Sol Aire. I highly recommend Sole Aire.
My A/C started leaking and resetting. My regular guy and handyman were both unavailable. I had received a hand-written letter from Sol Aire earlier in the week. They replied right away and came the next morning. The owner even drove 40 minutes to my house on a Sunday to make sure I was set. They are very professional, timely, friendly and give you personalized service

Roberto n Carlos super nice and informative. I’m happy to see y’all in 6 months for the next check!
First visit and I am beyond pleased. Extremely professional service the whole way through. From scheduling to completion I felt taken care of by the team! The company sent me pictures of the techs coming out to my house, Ramon and Carlos. I got a text and phone call when they were on the way. I bought the maintenance plan and was not over sold on any further products, but was told about potential future needs and even sent over a price estimate so I would not be surprised later on if I did decide to have them replace a UV bulb when it goes out.
Roberto did an awesome job removing and cleaning the Ac coil and fan motor in the Air handler, I would highly recommend any homeowner who needs service and maintenance.
They came out quick and were great about cleanup. I’m pretty picky and they were very easy to work with. Will for sure be using them in the future.

Our Mini Split Service
Sol Aire Air Conditioning has built a strong reputation for ductless work across Sanford and the surrounding Central Florida region. Ductless technology offers flexibility that traditional ducted systems cannot match, making these systems ideal for additions, garages, sunrooms, master bedrooms, home offices, and small commercial spaces. Our team approaches every ductless project with attention to the details that separate quality installations from disappointing ones. We service single family homes, multi family properties, retail spaces, and small commercial buildings throughout Seminole and Volusia counties. Each project begins with a thorough conversation about the space, comfort goals, and any specific concerns the customer wants addressed. Our technicians hold manufacturer certifications from Mitsubishi and Daikin along with ongoing training across the broader ductless industry. Clear communication from initial estimate through final commissioning sets our work apart from contractors who treat ductless work like quick add on installations. That commitment to old fashioned customer service drives every interaction with the homeowners and business owners we serve.
Ductless installation requires precision that traditional ducted work does not always demand. Indoor unit placement affects both performance and aesthetics, since wall mounted units become visible features in the spaces they condition. We discuss placement options carefully, considering airflow patterns, furniture arrangement, and visual prominence. Outdoor unit positioning matters for both equipment performance and exterior appearance, with proper clearances around the cabinet and consideration for line set routing. Refrigerant line sets connect the indoor and outdoor components, and proper sizing, routing, and protection of these lines affects long term reliability. Line hide covers create finished exterior appearance that protects line sets from sun damage while maintaining a clean look. Electrical requirements vary between models, with some installations needing dedicated circuits and others working with existing service. Each installation includes complete commissioning with refrigerant charge verification, communication system testing, and full operational verification across cooling and heating modes.
Single zone systems serve one indoor space with one outdoor unit, providing focused comfort for additions, master suites, garages, or specific rooms that need independent control. Multi zone systems connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor compressor, allowing different temperatures and operating modes in different spaces simultaneously. Multi zone configurations work particularly well for homes adding ductless to multiple rooms or for commercial spaces with varied usage patterns. Indoor unit options include wall mounted models that install high on interior walls, ceiling cassettes that recess into drop ceilings for minimal visual impact, floor mounted units that work where wall space is limited, and concealed duct units that hide above ceilings while serving multiple registers. Each indoor unit type offers specific advantages for particular applications, and our team helps customers choose the right configuration for their space.
Maintenance keeps ductless systems operating at peak efficiency throughout their working life. The relatively simple appearance of these systems sometimes leads homeowners to assume maintenance is unnecessary, but proper care matters as much for ductless equipment as for traditional systems. During a tune up, our technicians inspect and clean the indoor unit filters, which require more frequent attention than central system filters in many applications. The blower wheel inside each indoor unit accumulates dust and biological growth over time, and periodic cleaning maintains airflow and prevents odors. Outdoor unit coils receive careful cleaning to maintain heat transfer efficiency. Refrigerant pressures get measured against manufacturer specifications, and communication between indoor and outdoor units gets verified. Drainage systems for the indoor units receive inspection, since clogged condensate lines cause water leaks that can damage walls and flooring.
Repair work on ductless systems requires manufacturer training and specialized tools that not every HVAC contractor possesses. Communication errors between indoor and outdoor units represent common service calls, often pointing to wiring issues, control board faults, or sensor failures. Refrigerant leaks need careful diagnosis using electronic leak detection and sometimes UV dye tracing methods. Fan motor failures, drainage problems, and control faults all happen with ductless equipment and need professional diagnosis to address properly. Our technicians use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and follow proper service procedures rather than guessing at fixes. Parts availability matters significantly with ductless systems, since these manufacturers maintain proprietary components that are not interchangeable across brands. Our relationships with Mitsubishi and Daikin distribution channels keep parts available for prompt repair completion.
The flexibility of ductless technology opens applications that traditional ducted equipment cannot serve practically. Home additions, garage conversions, sunrooms, and bonus rooms often lack ductwork connections to existing central systems. Running new ducts to these spaces often costs more than ductless installation while delivering inferior performance. Master bedrooms that never reach comfort levels with central systems benefit from supplemental ductless equipment that provides independent temperature control. Home offices, gyms, and craft rooms with different usage patterns than the rest of the home work well with ductless zones. Small commercial applications including server rooms, retail spaces, and small offices often choose ductless for the same flexibility advantages. The ability to condition specific spaces without affecting the rest of the building delivers both comfort and energy savings.
Selecting the right contractor for ductless work matters significantly because these systems require specialized training, proper tools, and manufacturer certifications. Sol Aire Air Conditioning carries proper Florida licensing, current EPA refrigerant certifications, and direct manufacturer credentials from Mitsubishi and Daikin. Our Diamond and Pro dealer status reflects ongoing training requirements and quality standards that protect customers throughout every project. Technicians complete background checks before joining the team, which gives families confidence about who works inside their home. We provide free estimates with honest recommendations and no high pressure sales tactics. Pricing stays transparent from initial quote through final invoice. Customer reviews from Sanford area homeowners and businesses reflect consistent quality, fair pricing, and responsive communication. Building long term relationships with the communities we serve drives every decision we make as a company.

Most Common Mini Split Questions
Mini split services cover installation of new ductless systems for additions and individual spaces, ongoing maintenance to keep equipment running efficiently, and repair work when problems develop. Below are answers to questions homeowners ask us most often about mini split installation, maintenance, and repair across the Sanford area.
A mini split system consists of an outdoor compressor unit connected to one or more indoor air handlers through refrigerant lines and electrical wiring. The absence of ductwork distinguishes these systems from traditional central air conditioning, since each indoor unit directly conditions the air in its specific space. Refrigerant flows between the outdoor and indoor components, carrying heat from inside the space to the outdoors during cooling mode. Most modern systems also reverse this process for heating, functioning as heat pumps that work efficiently throughout Florida’s mild winters.
Inverter compressor technology powers most quality ductless systems and represents a significant advantage over traditional equipment. Rather than cycling on and off at full capacity like older equipment, inverter compressors continuously adjust their output to match actual cooling or heating demand. This variable speed operation maintains comfort with significantly less energy consumption while reducing wear on mechanical components. The indoor air handlers use ECM blower motors that similarly adjust speed continuously rather than operating at fixed settings.
The lack of ductwork eliminates one of the largest sources of energy loss in traditional HVAC systems. Industry research shows that typical ducted systems lose twenty to thirty percent of conditioned air through duct leaks before reaching living spaces. Mini splits deliver conditioned air directly to the space, eliminating these losses entirely. Indoor units include sophisticated filtration that often exceeds central system filter capabilities. Sound levels stay impressively low, with many indoor units operating at noise levels below typical conversation. Customers consistently appreciate the combination of efficiency, comfort, and quiet operation that quality ductless systems deliver.
Single zone mini split installations typically finish within one full day from start to finish. Our crews arrive early in the morning, complete the indoor unit mounting, route refrigerant lines and electrical wiring, install the outdoor unit, and run final testing before leaving the same day. Multi zone installations with multiple indoor units sometimes extend into a second day, depending on the number of zones and complexity of the line set routing. New construction installations follow different timelines that coordinate with broader building project schedules.
Several factors influence the installation timeline beyond just the equipment count. Line set routing complexity affects time significantly, especially when refrigerant lines must navigate around obstacles or travel substantial distances between indoor and outdoor units. Electrical work varies between installations, with some requiring only basic connections to existing circuits while others need dedicated circuits or panel upgrades. Outdoor unit placement sometimes requires pad construction or wall mounting, both of which add work time. Building access and floor levels affect how quickly crews can move materials and complete the installation.
Once installation completes, the startup procedure includes refrigerant charge verification, communication testing between indoor and outdoor units, electrical load measurement, and complete operational testing. The remote control gets programmed, and any smart features get connected to home networks when desired. Indoor unit drainage gets tested to verify proper condensate flow, and exterior line hide covers get installed to finish the appearance. Homeowners receive a complete walkthrough covering operation, filter cleaning, warranty registration, and recommended maintenance. Most customers find the entire process smoother and faster than they expected, since ductless work avoids the disruption of traditional ducted projects.
Mini splits benefit from professional service at least twice each year, with quarterly attention for systems in heavy use environments. Spring maintenance prepares cooling functions for hot Florida summers, while fall service addresses heating mode components before winter operations begin. Many homeowners use their mini splits year round, which makes consistent professional attention especially important. Single annual service visits leave gaps where developing issues can worsen between appointments.
Manufacturer warranty requirements typically specify documented professional service to maintain coverage on premium ductless equipment. Mitsubishi and Daikin both require professional installation through certified dealers and ongoing service documentation to maintain extended warranty protection. Skipping maintenance can void valuable warranty coverage on expensive components like compressors and control boards. Our maintenance records support warranty claims when needed, providing the documentation manufacturers require.
Indoor units accumulate dust and biological growth on blower wheels and inside the unit housing over time. This buildup affects both performance and indoor air quality, sometimes producing musty odors that signal needed deep cleaning. Our maintenance services include indoor unit cleaning that goes beyond filter changes, addressing the components that typical homeowner attention cannot reach. Outdoor unit coils need cleaning to maintain heat transfer efficiency, especially in Florida environments with high humidity and pollen levels. Our Aire-mazing Maintenance Plan automates the entire process with two service visits per year, priority scheduling, and repair discounts that pay for themselves over time.
Several warning signs indicate that a ductless system needs professional repair attention before problems worsen. Reduced cooling or heating capacity, where the system runs but the space never reaches the desired temperature, often points to refrigerant issues, dirty coils, or compressor problems. Communication errors displayed on the indoor unit or remote control signal control system problems that need diagnostic attention. Unusual noises during operation deserve prompt attention, since clicking, grinding, or rattling sounds typically indicate mechanical issues with the blower assembly or refrigerant flow.
Water leaking from the indoor unit usually means a clogged condensate drain line or failed drain pump. The drainage systems on ductless equipment can fail in several ways, and prompt attention prevents water damage to walls and flooring. Strong odors from the indoor unit often indicate biological growth on the blower wheel or inside the unit housing. Musty smells especially deserve professional cleaning rather than just running the system longer hoping the odor will clear. Ice buildup on the indoor unit or outdoor unit during winter operation sometimes indicates defrost control problems or refrigerant issues.
The indoor unit failing to respond to remote control inputs often points to either remote control battery issues or communication problems with the system. The outdoor unit running but the indoor unit not blowing air can indicate communication faults, blower motor problems, or control board issues. Higher than normal electric bills without changes in usage patterns sometimes signal declining efficiency from a struggling system. Our diagnostic approach uses manufacturer specific tools and procedures to identify actual root causes rather than just treating symptoms. Honest assessments help homeowners understand what is happening with their equipment and what options exist for resolution.
Quality mini split systems typically last between fifteen and twenty years when properly installed and maintained throughout their service life. Premium brands including Mitsubishi and Daikin often reach the higher end of that range, while budget equipment may fall short of these expectations. The inverter compressor technology that drives most quality ductless systems often outlasts traditional single stage compressors because variable speed operation creates less mechanical stress. Indoor units sometimes last even longer than outdoor components because they face less harsh operating conditions.
Several factors influence how long any particular system lasts. Installation quality affects longevity significantly, since proper refrigerant charge, electrical connections, and line set installation all reduce stress on components over time. Manufacturer training matters for installation quality, which makes contractor selection particularly important for ductless equipment. Maintenance history shows direct correlation with equipment lifespan, as systems serviced regularly outlast neglected units. Indoor air quality affects component life, with dusty environments requiring more frequent filter changes and blower wheel cleaning.
When mini split systems reach fifteen years or older, replacement sometimes makes more sense than major repairs. Modern equipment offers improved efficiency, better controls, and refrigerant types with better environmental profiles. Parts availability can become challenging for older equipment, especially from manufacturers that have changed their product lines or exited certain markets. Our team provides honest assessments based on actual system condition, repair history, and remaining useful life. Customers appreciate that we never push replacement on equipment with meaningful service life remaining.
Mini splits typically deliver higher efficiency than central air conditioning systems for several reasons. The elimination of ductwork removes one of the largest sources of energy loss in traditional HVAC systems, since ducts lose twenty to thirty percent of conditioned air through leaks and heat transfer. Inverter compressor technology continuously adjusts output to match demand rather than cycling on and off at full capacity. Variable speed operation maintains comfort with significantly less energy consumption, especially during partial load conditions that represent most operating hours.
Zoning capabilities add another efficiency advantage that central systems cannot easily match. Multi zone ductless systems allow different temperatures in different spaces, which means unused areas can operate at energy saving setpoints. Central systems condition the entire home regardless of which rooms are actually occupied, wasting energy on spaces no one is using. The ability to turn off zones serving unoccupied rooms delivers significant savings in homes where occupancy patterns vary throughout the day.
SEER2 ratings provide direct efficiency comparisons between equipment types, and modern ductless systems consistently achieve higher ratings than equivalent central systems. Premium ductless equipment exceeds thirty SEER2 in optimal conditions, while top central systems typically max out around twenty four SEER2. The corresponding HSPF2 heating efficiency ratings show similar advantages for heat pump operation. Florida utility bills reflect these efficiency differences directly, with homeowners switching to ductless often seeing meaningful reductions in monthly energy costs. The efficiency advantage matters most in spaces where ducted systems serve poorly or where independent zone control delivers practical benefits.
Multi zone mini split systems can effectively condition entire homes when properly designed and installed. Whole house applications typically require multiple outdoor compressors or larger capacity single units serving multiple indoor heads through branch boxes. Manual J load calculations determine the total capacity needed and inform decisions about zone configuration. Open floor plans sometimes work well with fewer indoor units, while traditional layouts with many separate rooms often need more zones for proper comfort.
Cost considerations enter the conversation when comparing whole house ductless installations to traditional central systems. Multiple zones with quality equipment can cost more than a single central system, though the comparison depends on the specific situation and equipment chosen. Existing central systems with usable ductwork often justify continued use through replacement central equipment rather than complete conversion to ductless. Homes without existing ductwork or with problematic duct systems often find that ductless makes more sense than installing new ducts.
Hybrid approaches sometimes deliver the best results for whole house comfort. A traditional central system can serve the main living areas while ductless units handle additions, master bedrooms, or spaces with different conditioning needs. This combination provides the cost efficiency of ducted equipment for large open spaces along with the zoning flexibility of ductless for individual rooms. Our team helps customers evaluate their specific situation rather than pushing one approach for every home. We discuss the practical and financial implications of different configurations so the final decision matches your actual needs and budget.
Homeowner maintenance focuses primarily on filter cleaning, which represents the most important routine task for ductless equipment. Indoor unit filters typically slide out from the front cover for easy cleaning, and most manufacturers recommend cleaning every two to four weeks during heavy use periods. The filters use washable mesh construction that rinses clean under running water, dries quickly, and reinstalls easily. Clogged filters reduce airflow, decrease efficiency, and can cause ice formation on the indoor coil during cooling operation.
Keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris represents another homeowner task that helps maintain system performance. Leaves, grass clippings, mulch, and other debris around the outdoor unit can restrict airflow and reduce efficiency. A two foot clearance around the cabinet allows proper airflow for the heat exchange that drives the entire system. Spraying off the outdoor coil with a garden hose periodically helps remove pollen, dust, and surface contamination. Avoid using pressure washers, which can damage the delicate aluminum coil fins.
More involved maintenance tasks belong to professional service rather than homeowner attention. Blower wheel cleaning inside the indoor unit requires partial disassembly and proper handling to avoid damage to fragile components. Refrigerant charge verification requires EPA certified technicians with proper equipment. Electrical testing, drainage system inspection, and control system diagnostics all require professional tools and training. Our Aire-mazing Maintenance Plan handles all of these professional service items twice per year, while homeowners focus on the simple filter cleaning and outdoor unit attention that keeps the system running between professional visits. The combination of homeowner basics and professional service delivers the best long term performance from your ductless investment.
